We spent two days in London and had so much fun! We much prefer the country to cities when traveling, but London is such a great time so we were sad to leave it!
The first day we explored the Tower of London.
Didn't stop to see the crown jewels though because the line was forever long. Then we walked along the River Thames and caught this lovely view of the London Bridge.
We spent the afternoon at the Tate Modern after enjoying caramelized peanuts while walking across the modern Millennium Bridge. Having just the two of us on the trip made for the same photo of us a thousand times over each with a different background so we employed our Gorilla Pod to see if we could get some candids. Gorilla Pods are amazing! And thank you SO much Elizabeth and Phillip for giving us one for our wedding! You can get small ones to fit in your purse and they wrap around things so you can set it up high or down low or on all kinds of surfaces.
While walking around the Globe Theatre and other sights we caught a bubble show and had to play!
In the afternoon, we took the Tube up to Portobello Road and strolled around Notting Hill. We stopped in and had some amazing gelato and browsed the little boutiques.
Day two we began at Buckingham Palace where we watched the Changing of the Guard. We loved the uniforms and horse parade, but as far as technique goes, Arlington's Changing of the Guard is much more impressive. Still it was fun being a part of the crowd!
Then off to Westminster Abbey!
And of course we stopped to make a phone call.
After Westminster we went to the Chesterfield Mayfair Hotel for a Willy Wonka themed afternoon tea! It was absolutely fantastic! Gorgeous displays and delicious treats. We tried to be as proper as we could be, but with afternoon tea running at close to 100 dollars we definitely did not fit in with the crowd! The cucumber and other specialty sandwiches were to die for! Landon got a Chamomile tea they brought out in a clear kettle so we could watch the flowers bloom. I got a Rooibos tea that was rich and perfect! We had so much fun trying to employ our most proper conversation and behaviors! We had to hold back the burst of laughter which was really hard!
We went back to our wild, much less proper ways after tea we went for a bike ride around London.
