The Lake District and Ms. Potter's House

9.12.2013

In the UK, campgrounds are most often someone's backyard. When you show up five minutes past eight, well, the owner is in his nightgown no longer accepting new campers and you are forced to sleep in your car! We slept in our car two nights during our trip and it was actually so fun! We pushed back the seats in our little blue fiat as far as they would go, lowered the back and climbed into our sleeping bags. The hardest part was lying so far from each other. Protecting ourselves from the fierce cold of British nights, we would stick out one arm from the intense warmth of our sleeping bags and hold hands across the center console. Life is darling with Landon.

Speaking of my Mr. Finter, this next photo may be my favorite photo from the trip. We drove through the beautiful Lake District in England and stopped to catch a glimpse of the beautiful, clear water, tall mountains and gorgeous greens.

I was absolutely amazed by how clear the lake water was. And fell in love with this colorful duck.

On our drive through the hills, we came to a waterfall Aira Force and went for a little hike.

After some walking along the rocks and hills we went into the town of Bowness for a bit to eat and to get out of the rain for a short while. I was a little intimidated by all the swans, but Mr. Finter really wanted a photo. Those birds are massive up close!

Then we were off to see Ms. Beatrix Potter's house! Since JoAn and Elena both read us Peter Rabbit when we were little tikes, we couldn't wait to see it! Her gardens were gorgeous! Everything a rabbit would love!

No one I would have rather been with.

I'm glad the swans didn't attack you. It is beautiful there and great pictures.
