Backpacking Through Europe: Ireland

9.09.2013

We had so much fun running around Europe this summer. The best part by far was spending every moment of the day with Mr. Finter. I can't believe that even with a month of being at each other's side every single second, I never got tired of being with him. It must be love!

Our first stop was Ireland. We were there for 48 hours and started with a little tour around Dublin before taking the bus down to the countryside of Glendalough. Everything we needed was packed away on our backs. Landon had all of the camping gear and I had all our clothes. Most of the trip we had a place to put our bags away for the day but we had a few hours in Dublin where we got to walk the streets carrying everything and feeling pretty authentic as backpackers.

In Glendalough we went hiking through the fields of sheep and bursts of yellow flowers called Gorse until we reached the lake called Lough Dan.  Our favorite parts of Ireland were the rolling green hills with sheep, the thousands of shades of green, bright blue skies and the wind blowing around us. It was quiet and gorgeous. We spent the hike talking about the details of the life we want to create when we are back and settled in California and the things that are important to us in order to feel fulfilled. Traveling the world is definitely high up on the list.

I can't get over how handsome he is.

The storm was so bad that night we decided to stay in a hostel. We made a small meal of shepherd's pie and twice baked potatoes for dinner. The next morning we were off to Dublin for the day. It was absolutely freezing! We had a grand plan to ride bikes in the park, but couldn't bear to do it with the harsh winds so instead we sat on the grass and laid in the sun in Phoenix Park.

Pounds and pounds of potatoes!

On our way out of Dublin we stopped in the Temple Bar for some sandwiches and live music. We loved the sounds of traditional Irish music.
